How to effectively prevent Malware using SpywareBlaster Part 2

System Snapshot
Click on System Snapshot in the left pane.

You can create a snapshot of your computer in its clean state and use System Snapshot later to revert any changes made by Malware.
the snapshot remembers various browser settings(Start\Local page, Search pages, User agent, Restrictions, Windows Title, BHO's….etc….) for Currrent User and Local Machine. It also remembers other important Windows settings such as the Run entries\Start-up, Protocols, Downloaded Program Files and quite a few more.
When you decide to run Restore System to Saved Snapshot Point, it shows a list of added/changed items and lets you choose the items you wish to restore.

Tools
Click Tools on the left pane to open SpywareBlaster's miscellaneous tools section.
Browser Pages
This section lets you view and change browser settings related to Home and Search pages in Internet Explorer and Mozilla / Firefox.

Hosts Safe

This tool will come in handy when you use a custom made HOSTS file. This utility lets you make encrypted backup copy of your HOSTS file and restore it incase you encounter system troubles caused by the HOSTS file.
Misc IE Settings

Here you can protect your Home page being changed. When you enable this setting the Home page setting area in Internet Explorer Internet Options is greyed out.

Flash Killer

Here you have the setting to block the Flash animated content from running in Internet Explorer. SpywareBlaster works by setting a killbit for the Flash control. Remember this works only in Internet Explorer, it has no effect in Mozilla / Firefox.
Custom Blocking

This section lets you create your custom block list for ActiveX controls that you want to block provided that you know the CLSID of the ActiveX control which is a bit trickier and better left to the proper experts.
Updates
Click Updates in the left pane

Here you can set the options related to the Updates function of the SpywareBlaster. Make your proxy settings in the Options tab if you use a proxy server. There are two options in the Updates tab for updating the definition files of SpywareBlaster, one is the usual normal way, by clicking the Check for Updates button manually whenever you want to check for updates. The other option is Automatic Updating which needs a paid subscription.
I strongly recommend purchasing the Auto-Update Subscription, if not for the convenience, it is for the Javacoolsoftware's fine gesture in providing this excellent software for free.
Uninstalling SpywareBlaster does not disable its protection. You must first disable its protection from its main status screen. Click Protection on the left pane and click Disable All Protection in the Quick Tasks section.

This concludes the SpywareBlaster tutorial. Click here to go back to SpywareBlaster download and setup.
