Part II – Tweak "AdAware SE Personal" settings for an optimal scan.

Click the Gear icon at the upper right to open the configuration window.

Click the "General" button and make sure that "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal" under "Safety" is checkmarked. All the three options under "Safety" are checkmarked by default.

Click the "Scanning" button, make sure "Scan within archives" under "Drives, Folders & Files" and all the available options under "Memory & Registry" are checkmarked. Then click open the link "Select drives & folders to scan"
The greyed out options here and elsewhere in the configuration window are available only for the Plus and Professional versions of Ad-Aware SE.
Note: The "Scan within archives" setting is pre-selected in the "full system scan" mode.

Make sure that you checkmark all the fixed hard drives/partitions, then click "Proceed" to save the settings.

Click the "Advanced" button, under "Shell Integration", checkmark "Move deleted files to Recycle Bin" and checkmark all the available options under "Logfile Detail Level".

Click the "Tweak" button, expand "Scanning Engine" under "Expert Settings". Make sure "Unload recognized processes & modules during scan" and "Scan registry for all users instead of current user only" are checkmarked (Default setting). Also checkmark "Obtain command line of scanned processes".

Still under Tweak settings, expand "Cleaning Engine" make sure the following are checkmarked (Default setting).
"Always try to unload modules before deletion"
"During removal,unload Explorer and IE if necessary"
"Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot"
"Delete quarantined objects after restoring"

Still under Tweak settings, expand "Safety settings" checkmark the following:
"Reanalyze result after scanning before displaying result list"
"Write-protect system files after repair (Hosts file, etc.)"

Click "Proceed" to save the settings and go to the main status screen.
