Sony still keen on copy-control software
Sony BMG Australia has announced plans to introduce copy-control software on its CDs from next year. The news comes as a surprise to many following Sony's recent troubles with such software in other countries, particularly the US.
Earlier this month, Sony halted production of CDs containing its Extended Copy Protection (XCP) software that inadvertently allowed hackers to easily install viruses on computers. The Australian arm of the company insists it will be using different software from the one responsible for the problems but has not yet decided on a specific one.
