Arrest in 22 year long Identity Theft Fraud


Victoria Donnelly-Korondi, 54 from Big Island has pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining welfare benefits using a stolen identity. She received over $308,000 in welfare benefits and housing assistance after adopting the identity of Karen L. Johnston, a woman killed in 1977 in a car crash in Idaho. Hawaii County Prosecutor Jay Kimura says Donnelly-Korondi is a Swiss citizen who was educated in Australia and probably entered the United States illegally from Canada in the early 1980's.
