Game maker refuses to bow to extortion

The online security of a popular game maker was compromised last week, with hackers demanding an undisclosed sum to prevent data exposure.

White Wolf Publishing posted a statement on their website indicating they had no intent of paying the hackers, and this week hackers responded by emailing White Wolf customers, offering them the chance to buy the stolen information for $10. The hackers were able to access usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords according to the statement.

Although no credit card information is reported to be involved, the company cautions users to change passwords for other internet services using the same password as their White Wolf account.
