Know Your Malware: Sunk Removal
Sunk is a worm that spreads via instant messages using the AIM program and through file sharing networks with the help of popular peer to peer applications. Once executed, the parasite display the following fake error message: "An unexpected error has occured on the execution of this file", installs itself to the system and runs a spreading routine.
After a while, Sunk runs a payload. It lowers overall system security and replaces all the executables it finds on the compromised computer with copies of itself. This severely damages installed software and may even destroy the entire system.
