Know Your Malware: Looksky.g Removal
Looksky.g is a dangerous rapidly spreading Internet worm that propagates by e-mail. The parasite arrives in infected executable files attached to bogus e-mail messages.
Once executed, Looksky.g silently installs itself to the system and runs a spreading routine. The worm sends e-mail messages with attached infected files to all the contacts in the Windows Address Book and to some addresses harvested from local web (.htm) files. These letters have the following subject:
"Your mail Account is Suspended"
and the following body:
"We regret to inform you that your account has been suspended due to the violation of our site policy, more info is attached."
The parasite's payload is comprised of several harmful functions. Looksky.g opens a back door that gives the attacker unauthorized remote access to the compromised computer. The worm logs all user keystrokes, collects system information and steals local login names and passwords. Then it sends gathered data to a predetermined e-mail address or transfers it to a predefined web server. Looksky.g can run a hidden proxy server. The worm is able to automatically update itself via the Internet, bypass the Windows Firewall and lower Internet security settings.
Looksky.g secretly runs on every Windows startup.
