New scam targets FIFA World Cup fans
Secuity vendor, SurfControl is tracking a phishing and spyware scam targeting 2006 FIFA World Cup enthusiasts.
SurfControl said fraudulent emails claiming to be from MasterCard are offering free travel and tickets to the World Cup in Germany. Users are encouraged to click a link to claim the prize, resulting in key logger downloading to a desktop.
When the user accesses any variety of legitimate online banking sites, the key logger mimics the website, captures the personal banking information of the user and transfers it to an alternative destination. New scam targets FIFA World Cup fans - Security - www.itnews.com.au
