Car sales scam is sweeping UK

Criminal gangs are using fake bank drafts to steal top-of-the-range cars advertised on Ebay and in Auto Trader magazine, police warn.

They are also using registrations and other details from other vehicles advertised for sale to "clone" cars they have stolen.

Several people in Norfolk have fallen victim, and one car dealership lost 16,500 and a car which it handed over for a BMW worth about 26,000 which later turned out to have been stolen. EDP24 - Car sales scam is sweeping UK
