Spammers must shut websites, judge says
A Suffolk Superior Court judge has ordered Boston area "spammers" to permanently shut down dozens of websites that sold such products as counterfeit prescription drugs, pirated software, and pornography.
The judgment was a result of a lawsuit filed by Massachusetts Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly against Leo Kuvayev and six other individuals with local ties. The group used junk e-mails, or spam, to peddle a variety of products. In many cases, the e-mails contained links to websites where the products could be purchased.
