Bring On the Security Price Wars
The cost of security has marched steadily uphill for years. We should celebrate Microsoft for pricing its products aggressively, not try to protect the established market leaders. The move to "security as a service" may be largely a conspiracy to increase prices, but maybe it doesn't have to end up that way.
....I would never accuse Microsoft of being unconcerned with making money, but I think its real goal with OneCare is to increase the percentage of users who have basic, effective anti-malware protection. As long as the company doesn't lose money doing that it'll be happy, because it'll make Windows more appealing by making it safer to use. Bring On the Security Price Wars
