Stay one step ahead of online banking skelms

MORE than ever, banking customers need to keep their personal details safe.

Thatís according to Alewyn Burger, chief executive of Standard Bank personal and business banking, who said this week there had been a 50% growth in spyware in the past 18 months, and a 16-fold increase in virus creation over the past three years. The implication is that cyber criminals are trying harder and harder to defraud Internet banking customers.

Yet Burger said Internet banking is not only one of the most convenient ways to bank, it is also one of the most secure ó provided certain precautions are taken. :: Home of the Sunday Times :: South Africa's best selling newspaper ::
