Beware of Social Security 'phishing' email
If you've received an email with the words "Cost of Living for 2007 update" in the subject line, beware. This message, which purports to be from the Social Security Administration, is making its way around cyberspace.
The email claims to offer information about a 3.3% benefit increase for 2007 and requests readers to update their personal information, including their Social Security numbers, through a Web link. If you don't comply, the message claims that the SSA "will be forced to suspend your account indefinitely."
