Virus writers craft PnP botnet client
Virus writers have created a botnet client that uses a recently discovered Microsoft vulnerability to spread. Mocbot is the first malware to use the MS05-047 Microsoft Plug and Plug vulnerability. It uses this security bug to create a botnet of compromised, "zombie" PCs under the control of unknown hackers. Early indications are that the attack is not particularly successful.
The security flaw exploited to the IRC bot is similar but destinct from the MS05-039 vuln used by the Zotob worm to floor several high profile media outlets, including CNN, ABC, The Financial Times, and the New York Times back in August. Virus writers craft PnP botnet client | The Register
