Identity Theft: 7000 DEAD MEN WALKING

CRIMINALS stole the identities of 7000 dead Scots last year - to commit fraud worth millions of pounds. The scale of the scam has been exposed by private fraud experts, who discovered it cost Scots businesses around 3million. The revelations follow crime figures last month which show fraud in Scotland has reached an all-time high, with cases up 20 per cent in the last year to 18,307. The scam - nicknamed "faking the dead" - is the fastest growing crime in the country with more than 20 fake identities being created each day.
