A list of free anonymizer software which basically helps to protect your privacy on the Internet. In addition, many of the tools helps to bypass internet censorship, browse internet anonymously, send email anonymously, protect your data transfer and so on.

Free Anonymizer Software

Tor: anonymity online – Using Tor can help you anonymize web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and other applications that use the TCP protocol. Tor also provides a platform on which software developers can build new applications with built-in anonymity, safety, and privacy features.

Tor Browser Bundle – The Tor Browser Bundle lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser called Aurora, and is self-contained.

Vidalia – Vidalia is a cross-platform controller GUI for Tor, built using the Qt framework. Using Vidalia, you can start and stop Tor, view the status of Tor at a glance, and monitor Tor's bandwidth usage.

Freenet – Freenet is free software which lets you anonymously share files, browse and publish “freesites” (web sites accessible only through Freenet) and chat on forums, without fear of censorship. Freenet is decentralised to make it less vulnerable to attack, and if used in “darknet” mode, where users only connect to their friends, is very difficult to detect.

JonDo – JonDo, formerly JAP, is the ip changer proxy tool you have to install on your computer. It acts as a proxy and will forward the traffic of your internet applications multible encrypted to the mix cascades and so it will hide your ip address. It is a Java application, open source and you can download it for free.

Vispa – There are many reasons why you wouldn't want your operating system connect to Microsoft's server, be it for practical reasons or pure idealism. Vispa allows you to easily tweak your Windows Vista for better privacy and security, even system performance. Do a few clicks rather than finding the write registry keys or program settings.

Loki Network Project – Loki Network Project is free VPN service and SSL based free VPN server. It is an opportunity to protect your private data (IP address, e-mail/FTP/HTTP passwords, web-sites visited, uploaded/downloaded files and etc…) and bypass certain Internet access limitations you may have at your location.

Free P2P VPN software – Wippien – You will be assigned an IP address to enjoy full network services with your friends – just as they would be sitting next to you. Anonym.OS LiveCD – kaos.theory’s Anonym.OS LiveCD is a bootable live cd based on OpenBSD that provides a hardened operating environment whereby all ingress traffic is denied and all egress traffic is automatically and transparently encrypted and/or anonymized.

Lightweight Portable Security – a Linux-based live CD with a goal of allowing users to work on a computer without the risk of exposing their credentials and private data. This is part of the Software Protection Initiative of the US Department of Defense.

GNU Privacy Guard – GnuPG allows to encrypt and sign your data and communication, features a versatile key management system as well as access modules for all kind of public key directories. GnuPG, also known as GPG, is a command line tool with features for easy integration with other applications.

JonDoFox – JonDoFox is a profile for the Mozilla Firefox web browser particularly optimized for anonymous and secure web surfing.

Proxomitron – Proxomitron is a flexible HTTP web filtering proxy that enables you to filter web content in any browser. The program runs as a local proxy server and you need to configure your browser to use a localhost at port 8080 in order to activate the filtering.

Webwasher Classic – Webwasher Classic – the original. Designed for use on clients and for smaller-sized networks. Webwasher filters out unwanted advertising and protects the surfer's privacy by filtering cookies, referrer strings and Web bugs.

WebCleaner – The first feature that sets WebCleaner apart from other proxies is exact HTML filtering, and this removes a lot of advertising. The filter does not just replace some strings, the proxy parses all HTML data. The parser is fast (written in C) and can cope with every broken HTML page out there; if the parser does not recognize HTML structures, it just passes the data over to the proxy until it recognizes a tag again. No valid HTML data is ever discarded or dropped.
